The North S.T.A.R. Framework : Self, Tenets, Aspirations, Routines
A systems-based framework helping learners and families develop the following:
Self
Self is all about knowing who you are before the world tells you who to be. It invites you to slow down and notice your strengths, values, emotions, and identity instead of living on autopilot. When you understand your story and what matters most to you, it becomes easier to make choices that feel honest and aligned. In the North S.T.A.R. Framework, “Self” is your starting point and your anchor—it reminds you that becoming your highest version doesn’t mean becoming someone else, it means becoming more fully yourself.
Tenets
Tenets are the core beliefs and principles you choose to live by. They answer questions like: What do I stand for? What do I want my life to reflect? Tenets turn fuzzy ideas about “being a good person” into clear, guiding statements you can come back to when life gets loud or confusing. In the North S.T.A.R. Framework, your Tenets act like guardrails and a compass at the same time—they help you stay true to your values, even when it’s hard, and keep you pointed toward the “north” version of yourself.
Aspirations
Aspirations are more than goals on a checklist; they are the pictures you hold of who you are becoming and how you want to impact the world. Aspirations ask: What kind of person do I want to be? What kind of life am I building toward? In the North S.T.A.R. Framework, your Aspirations give direction and meaning to your growth. They connect your daily effort to a bigger “why,” so you’re not just moving faster—you’re moving in a direction that actually matters to you.
Routines
Routines are the everyday actions that quietly shape your life, for better or for worse. They include how you use your time, how you care for your mind and body, and the habits you repeat without thinking. In the North S.T.A.R. Framework, Routines are where everything becomes real: your Self, Tenets, and Aspirations all show up in what you actually do consistently. When your routines line up with who you are and where you want to go, you build momentum toward your highest version one small choice at a time.
